Longboard Gliders – Surf School Lanzarote
Niccolò Taverna
“Longboard Surfing determines who I am and my way of life. I welcome you to read the story about how I became a surf coach in Lanzarote.”

Back then, surfing was not as popular in Italy as it is today. There were no surf shops or surf schools. To learn how to surf, my friends and I would sit on the beach in Bogliasco and observe the older boys and learn from their advice. Lots of falls, laughter and frustration! But I can still remember the first time I stood up, what a thrill! Unbelievable – over 30 years later and I can still vividly remember that day.
In 2012, I decided to radically change my life and realise my dream of surfing.
My love for surfing and travelling took me to incredible places: Portugal, Northern Spain, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Australia. It was there that I started working in some of the best surf schools and met people who taught me a lot about surfing and the surfing philosophy.
After years of professional experience, I developed my own teaching method and decided to start a new adventure by founding Longboard Gliders, a longboard surf school for adults in Famara Beach on the beautiful island of Lanzarote.
